JOY in the Morning invites you to join in our warm, inter-generational community that will help you understand the context and meaning of the Bible so you can apply it to your life with fellowship, support, and prayer. Free childcare provided with registration. This semester we will offer two different study options:
1) Mark (LifeChange) Paperback – April 1, 1995 by The Navigators
Regardless of where you are in your faith journey, this year long in-depth study of Mark will introduce you to Jesus through a life changing encounter with God's Word.
When Jesus came claiming to be the promised Messiah, the Jewish people were expecting a powerful warrior-king who would throw off their oppressors. Instead, He served the needs of the weak and suffered injury from the strong. Because He did not fit their ideal picture of a messiah, the people rejected Him. Mark’s Gospel, probably the earliest account of Jesus’ life, shows us how Jesus upsets our expectations in order to give us something better than we could imagine. The flexible guide allows you to individually adjust the quantity and depth of your study.
2) Numbers: Learning Contentment in a Culture of More
Numbers: Learning Contentment in a Culture of More by Melissa Spoelstra is a 6 week study using a DVD and study guide. This is a study comparing our own dissatisfaction with our life circumstances to the grumbling of the Israelites as God leads them out of slavery. By exploring Numbers, we’ll identify the reasons for our own complaining, learn contentment while being authentic about the difficulties of life, accept short-term hardship in light of the greater good of God's ultimate deliverance, recognize the relationship between complaining and worry, and discover how to realign with God's character and promises.
