From Liberty to Captivity Screening

  • Church of the Saviour (Bldg. A) 651 North Wayne Avenue Wayne, PA, 19087 United States (map)

From Liberty to Captivity investigated how Pennsylvania, once a representation of freedom to so many, is now a state where human trafficking and slavery are flourishing. With its proverbial lens, From Liberty To Captivity zooms in on Pennsylvania’s booming and profitable sex trafficking industry, which threatens to destroy the principle of “liberty and justice for all” here in our own communities. This feature-length film  awakens people from all walks of life to the pervasive reality of sex trafficking in Pennsylvania; but also plants seeds of hope, inspiring us to join the fight as we carry forth the legacy of the abolitionists.

After the film, Kim Checkeye will lead the Q&A. Kim served for 14 years as the Executive Director of a nonprofit organization recognized in providing restorative care for sexually exploited women. Kim has a passion for educating about sex trafficking as well as training direct care providers on identifying victims and working with survivors through a trauma informed lens. Kim is a powerful speaker with compelling stories and a wealth of experience in this field.

Screening is free & open to the public. More information about the film available at
